    Anchorage Airport

    The Anchorage airport in Alaska or the "Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport" is one of the busiest airports of the world in terms of international cargo activity. The Anchorage airport is primarily located four miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska. The Anchorage airport was the common stopover for passengers bound for East of Asia during the sixties to the eighties because United States and Western European aircraft are restricted to fly over the airspace of Russia. Aircrafts at that time does not have the range of today's aircrafts.
    The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport was named after the long-standing United States Senator Ted Stevens. It is the second largest airline hub of Alaska Airlines. This Anchorage airport is ranked fourth of the busiest cargo airport of the world. Lots of cargo delivery service companies use this Anchorage airport as a trans-Pacific hub. Still there are some passenger aircrafts uses this Anchorage airport as a stopover for flight bound for Asia and the eastern United States.
    United Parcel Service or UPS, Federal Express or FedEx and North West Airlines operate major airline hubs in the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. The largest is Federal Express. FedEx can manage as many as 13,000 packages an hour and employs over more than a thousand people (FedEx also provides full custom clearance system), while United Parcel Service can process over 5,000 parcels per hour. UPS and FedEx anticipates a large increase in traffic over the next years as other Far Eastern countries intensifies and intended to expand their facilities on the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.
