    Hotel Captain Cook In Anchorage

The Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage Alaska is a truly luxurious hotel which is named after the great English explorer who discovered Anchorage, Captain James Cook. This elegant Anchorage hotel brings to mind Captain Cook's voyages to Alaska and the south pacific with its teak paneling and nautical theme interior design. This hotel was built in 1964 to exhibit prosperity in Alaska, and is one of only one hundred hotels all over the globe with the status of "Preferred Hotels and Resorts Worldwide".

Comprising three towers, the first tower of which was built by former governor Wally Hickel after the 1964 earthquake, The Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage is a landmark which is situated just six miles from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, and just about three blocks east from the scenic Tony Knowles Coastal Trail and three blocks west of the convention center.

The regularly renewed rooms are decked in rich, lavish fashion using superb fabrics, exclusive pieces of custom-built furniture, and lots of polished trim. The Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage features five hundred forty seven guestrooms with stunning views of Cook Inlet or the Chugach Mountains. Amenities of the guestrooms include Egyptian combed-cotton robes, mini fridges, designer toiletries, and internet access.

The hotel also offers meeting rooms that range from two hundred eighty eight-square foot library with fireplace and window views, to nine thousand-square-foot ballrooms. There is also within the hotel a twenty four-hour business center offering three work stations complete with computers and leather executive chairs. Other amenities of this business center include printers, photocopiers, fax machine, and high-peed internet access. There is also an indoor pool and spa tub, sauna, massage rooms, racquetball court, men's and women's workout areas, and group exercise classes.

On the hotel's top floor you can get a taste of classy continental food and ornately formal service at The Crow's Nest, the most conventional fine-dining restaurant in the city. Off the lobby you can find Fletcher's, an English pub serving good Italian-style pizza, sandwiches, and pasta. The Pantry offers fresh-fish delights and chowders. On the fourteenth lobby-level you can find shops that sell Alaskan artwork and European -made clothing.

The Captain's Deck and Lounge that is located on the 16th and 17th levels of Tower II, is the ultimate comfort, convenience and privacy. These secured floors feature deluxe rooms and suites, with amazing views of either the Chugach Mountains or the Cook Inlet. Included in guests' services for these rooms are complimentary newspapers and garage self-parking, as well as complimentary continental breakfast, well stocked juice and soft drink bark in the lounge, and nightly hors d'oeuvres.
