    Antigua Real Estate

Forming part of the Lesser Antilles archipelago, Antigua is one of the most beautiful islands in the Eastern Caribbean region. With 365 beaches, one for each day of the year, and well-preserved coral reefs that make for superb scuba diving and snorkeling, many people come to this place simply to enjoy the more laidback side to the Caribbean, staying at seaside hotels and oceanfront villas.

However, if you plan on making a second home out of this place, staying at hotel rooms or renting villas may not be the best choice. If you really want to enjoy all that this charming island has to offer, then buying an Antigua real estate property may offer you more value for your money.

If you haven't done real estate before, don't worry. Here are some tips to help you deal with the Antigua real estate scene:

    Agent's Credentials

A wise buyer would always check a professional's credentials and verify it before making a purchase. The same applies with Antigua real estate. Much of the mistakes that real estate buyers make are that they are all too often ready to believe catch phrases like "My friend (or family member) sells real estate." Always remember that real estate is business and a true friend will understand that friendship doesn't really count when it comes to choosing the right value for your money. Look beyond personal connection to find what you're looking for.

    Presentation isn't Everything

Don't be gulled by the astounding presentation that the real estate website is showing you. Often, presentations that offer you nothing but pictures and no description about the state or condition of the property at all are no more than eye candies. Look at more than one Antigua real estate website to make accurate comparisons. Take down the advantages and disadvantages of each before making a choice.

    References

You may be a good judge of character but understand that in Antigua real estate, or any real estate business for that matter, snap judgment isn't enough. You can check up on references in order to determine whether the property is indeed what the agent claims it to be. And if possible, ask for references on recent sales or recent customers.

    Inspection

This is probably the hardest part in Antigua real estate. Unless you live nearby and traveling to and from the island is a snap, you may have to sacrifice a bit of your time just to see the property in question. An ocular inspection is a must for every Antigua real estate buyer. You don't want any unpleasant surprises after you close the deal and move into your new home. That's why, you need to see the property in person before making your final decision.

If you require professional assistance in choosing the right Antigua real estate property, there are many brokers and independent agents willing to lend a hand.
