We stayed at the Bavaro Princess...from apple vacations it's rated a 5 apple. They have golden apples which is one step above. I loved it there. The hotel rooms/suites were large and very nice. You can get the Platinum rooms and you get the best vacation. That includes room service, massages, better dinners, and more private access than most other vacationers.

Best place there is a six golden apple rating.... We've traveled a lot
    Secrets is really nice
    Dreams too
It depends on what you are used to... there are a lot of very nice places for the price... I love Aruba but the rates are higher... St Thomas but you can't get the all inclusive rates like D.R. If you are spoiled and travel a lot you may be unhappy with the food and the limitations of this country... if you enjoy being at a nice resort and relaxing on the grounds you'll love the values!

The difference between 5 and 6 APPLEs is NIGHT and Day if you want good food and drinks... if not it might not matter- just be aware that 5 apple resorts have mediocere food and drinks... do you like all-inclusive?

I like the Iberostar Bavaro- there are cheaper rates at their other two resorts but it is worth it for the better quality food ect... if you stay there tell them you want to be close to the pool or beach-some villas are far from everything.

The next two resorts are a little further from the airport but worth the drive... Secrets and Dreams they are not at Bavaro and Bavaro beach is beautiful- it depends on what you like and what you are looking for!

Secrets does not book with APPLE vacations anymore- look at funjet vacations... or direct with secrets excellence and or dreams!

If you want a cassino, good food, nice beach, quiet, family, kids, calm water, surf.... they have so many that you need to research what you'd most like!

Enjoy... I am ready to go back asap!!!!!

    Hope this helps!

Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro is also nice... tripadvisor has a lot of info that may help you also!!!
