it depends on where you live. It's more common to see them in cities than in the villages...sounds like you're scared to come to Germany. Well, from my experience I can say there's nothing to worry about.
EDIT: about the thumbs down, I was married to a black guy for 5 years and no one ever said or did anything to him. |

Yeah, it's pretty common. Nobody will stop and stare at you or something. There are quite a lot of people from everywhere here in Germany, and they come in all shapes, sizes and color-shades, so: nothing to worry about.

I don't know anyone in Germany who counts how many black people are to see. There are many different nationalities living in Germany we would be really busy to keep an account of black persons or Asians we see!

It is more common in the southwest (the former US occupied zone) than in the north (former British zone) or especially the east (former Sovjet zone), and the bigger the city, the higher the share seems to be (like in Berlin and Hamburg).
It is, however, by far not as common as in North America, simply because of the fact that the US imported way more African slaves than Europe (don't hit me, not my fault). |

I just left there (Frankfurt to Munich) and there were a few. I saw a bit more Africans and Asians though.

Despite what the others say...I wouldn't say it's common. Yes, there are black people there, but not like you would see walking around in a major US city. FYI...it's not "rap or r&b". It's called "black music". Trust me, it was quite a shock as an american to be walking along and see clubs advertising "black music".

I have lived in Berlin for a year (now I live in Wales), and
I saw lots of black people. They're commonly found in large cities or towns rather than small rural villages. Obviously it's not like Germany is bursting with black people, like Africe/America is but they aren't something rare and special there. Why are you asking? |

as the others often said: it depends on where you live. i live in the middle of germany in an area where the bigger cities have around 70 000 residents. there are black people, but not that many.
while you have great groups of black people and hispanicsin the us, you have rather great groups of people from eastern europe and the middle east in germany. but even if you come to an area where not too many blacks live: in most area there is no prejudice or racism against blacks. and if there is, than its against all foreigners (often rather against turks; which i dont agree with though, dont get the wrong pic here!) |

Believe it or not, not all Germans are white beer drinking, lederhosen wearing folks. There are people of different ethnicities here too. America is not the only place people have ever immigrated to. Yes, there are black Germans.
