    Generally it is, but not in Jaco Beach! It is very dangerous out at night there.

    .Yes for the most part Costa Rica as a whole is safe at night. As with any place in the world there can be trouble at night especially if you put yourself in areas or situations that are not safe. Don't do stupid things like flaunt a lot of cash or wear lots of jewelry stay away from the bad or seedy areas of town and don't leave cameras and stuff in plain sight when you park your car and you should be fine.
