Trinidad Activities: Top Things To Explore

Trinidad is among the greatest attraction of Cuba. The place's colonial charm that brings a soothing serenity to many travelers is perhaps one of its most appealing assets. Time seems to freeze among its cobblestone streets and tastefully scruffy setting, making it seem like decades away from the 21st century.

Complementing the city's regal setting is its superb surrounding natural beauty, including relaxing beaches and calming mountains. Amidst this spectacular place is an endless list of things to do and explore. Trinidad activities are numerous, depending on a traveler's passion and "likes". A great thing about Trinidad is its diversity when it comes to the things a visitor can indulge in.

From the many possibilities of water activities in its nearby beaches, to the several hiking trails of its "Sierra del Escambray" mountains, to the exciting fun that's in store in the city itself, Trinidad activities will surely have travelers enjoyably occupied throughout their vacation.

    Watersports
There are several great facilities for every type of watersports, particularly Trinidad's east and north coast beaches. Visitors can enjoy surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, and diving in thirty dive sites around the waters of Trinidad. Yachting and sailing are also among the well-liked activities of some travelers, who even join in its annual "Carnival" event. These Trinidad activities are among the favorite activities of many visitors.

    Fishing
Every kind of fishing activity is also widely available, from inland to deep-sea fishing. Wahoo, Spanish mackerel, kingfish, dolphin fish, yellow tuna, and bonito are the typical catches, with some snapper, salmon, and grouper found off the north and west Trinidad coasts.

    Wildlife and birdwatching
Trinidad has an exceptional wealth of flowers and wild birds, fish and butterflies, which are mostly untouched, yet reachable. Trinidad and Tobago boasts of about 622 butterfly species, as well as seven hundred orchid species. The latter is probably best found in the Botanic Gardens of Trinidad's capital city Port of Spain, together with an extensive selection of indigenous ferns, cacti, shrubs, and trees.

Trinidad birdwatchers can head to the Nariva Swamp, Asa Wright Nature Center, and the Aripo Savannah, as well as watch for the "Scarlet Ibis" -the national bird - at the "Caroni Bird Sanctuary". Visitors can witness the colorful spectacle of these "scarlet birds" flying from formation to its roost before sundown.

    Other activities
Other fun and exciting Trinidad activities await travelers within the city. The nightlife of Trinidad is one of the things to experience, with its various bars and discos that sounds off its Cuban beat. Shopping in the different street markets of Trinidad, which offers antiques, art, and Trinidad souvenirs, must not be missed. Additionally, "food activities" will definitely be one of the most "tasteful" events that one can do in Trinidad.

Whether you're a nature lover, or a watersports enthusiast, or even a food-and-shopping freak, Trinidad activities surely holds an indulging activity for you.
